What does a metalworker do

As a metalworker, you will be involved in machining, shaping and assembling metal parts and structures. You work with different types of metal such as steel, aluminium and stainless steel. Depending on the job, you will use techniques such as welding, cutting, drilling, milling and setting. You will work independently or as part of a team on various constructions for the mechanical engineering, industrial or construction sectors, among others.

Your main tasks will consist of:

  • Machining and shaping metal according to technical drawings
  • Welding and assembling parts and structures
  • Working with machines such as press brakes, sawing machines or welding machines
  • Checking dimensions and quality of the finished product
  • Performing maintenance to tools and machines
