What does a technical services assistant do?
As a technical service employee, you are responsible for keeping machines, installations and technical systems within a company in good condition. You ensure that production can keep running and that faults are solved quickly and effectively. The work may vary from one organisation to another, but usually consists of:
- Performing preventive maintenance on machines and installations
- Analysing and remedying faults (mechanical, electrical or control)
- Thinking along about technical improvements and optimisations
- Reporting on work performed
- In some cases: new construction or modifications to installations
You will often work together with colleagues from the production department and external technicians. A proactive attitude and technical insight are indispensable.

Training and advancement opportunities
Technology never stands still, and neither do you. Within the technical department, there are plenty of opportunities to develop yourself further. You can obtain certificates such as NEN 3140 and VCA or take courses in PLC technology, hydraulics or pneumatics.
