Behind every chalet that rolls off the line at Wanders Chalet in Ulft is a team of professionals who put their heart and soul into building complete living solutions every day. One of them is Martin, a regular on the shop floor for eight years. We spoke to him about his work, his team and why he is proud of what he does.
From outside to inside
Martin started his career in construction, in other words, outdoors. He ended up at Wanders via a vacancy, and although working in a production hall took some getting used to, he now feels completely at home. "Every day is different. And honestly? It's also nice when you can cycle to work the same way every morning," he says with a smile.
International atmosphere, real go-getters
At Wanders, you work in a diverse team. Different nationalities, different backgrounds, and that is exactly what makes it fun. "All sorts of things are talked about on the floor, which gives atmosphere," Martin says. His ideal colleague? "A real go-getter. Don't bullshit, but clean up." You can feel that mentality everywhere at Wanders.
Growing by doing
Martin is not an official tutor, but he likes to help new colleagues get started. "When a new guy comes in, I help him get started. It comes naturally." One such colleague is pictured here, who once started next to him and now works independently on floors. "That one has actually taken over everything from me. Nice to see."
From shop floor to television
The most beautiful thing about his work? You only see that when it's finished. "We build the basis, but then when you see a chalet like that later on TV - on House Vision, for example - and know: that's our work... yes, that's cool." And forget those old prejudices about mobile homes. "They are no longer caravans. We build complete homes. Everything is in there, everything is right."
