What does a logistics assistant do?
As a logistics employee, you will be handling, moving and checking goods on a daily basis. You receive deliveries, pick orders, package products and prepare shipments for transport. You often work with hand scanners and registration systems, and in some positions you operate a forklift or reach truck.
Variety, movement and cooperation are key in this job. You will ensure that the warehouse runs smoothly and customers can count on fast and correct deliveries.
Typical duties:
- Receiving and checking incoming goods
- Processing deliveries in the inventory system
- Order picking using pick lists or scanners
- Packaging and preparing products for shipment
- Loading and unloading lorries
- Stock control and periodic counts
- Ensuring a neat and safe workplace
- (If authorised) driving a forklift or reach truck
Depending on the company you work for, you may also be deployed in specific departments such as returns, shipping or assembly.

What do you need to become a logistics assistant?

Desired skills and attributes:
- MBO work and thinking level
- Interest in logistics or experience in a warehouse environment
- Physically fit and willing to stand, walk and lift a lot
- Accuracy in processing orders and goods
- Command of the Dutch language for communication and safety
- (Pre) In possession of a forklift or reach truck certificate
- Able to work independently, but also a real team player
