Operator: the driving force behind production and process
Are you technically minded, work accurately and feel responsible for the proper functioning of machines? Then the position of operator is a perfect match. As an operator, you operate production machines, monitor the process and solve minor malfunctions independently. You ensure that the production process runs smoothly and thus make a direct contribution to quality, safety and productivity.

What does an operator do?
As an operator, you are responsible for operating one or more machines in a production process. You ensure that raw materials are processed correctly, machines are properly adjusted and the end product meets the quality standards. You work according to strict procedures, identify deviations and intervene in case of breakdowns or process deviations.
Depending on the company, you work in day shift or shift work and are part of a team led by a team leader or production manager.
Common tasks:
- Setting up, operating and checking machines or production lines
- Converting machines in case of product changes
- Carrying out quality checks and registering measured values
- Solving simple malfunctions and performing first-line maintenance
- Coordinating with technical service in case of more complex problems
- Supplying materials and checking stock levels
- Ensuring order, tidiness and safety in the workplace
- Reporting deviations or points of improvement to the supervisor
As an operator, you are the one who literally keeps production running.
What sectors can you work in as an operator?

What do you need to get started as an operator?
As an operator, you must have technical insight and be willing to learn. You are responsible, independent and find it important that your work contributes to quality and continuity. In some positions, experience is required, but in others you can enter through an apprenticeship.
Desired skills and qualifications:
- MBO work and thinking level, preferably in the direction of engineering, process engineering or mechanical engineering
- Experience as an operator or in a production environment is a plus
- Technical insight and interest in machines and processes
- Willingness to work in shifts (2, 3 or 5 shifts)
- Accurate, independent and safety-conscious
- In possession of VCA or willing to obtain this certificate via Euro Planit
- Command of the Dutch language (for instructions and documentation)
